Denotation: We can see a man standing at a bottom of a set of stairs holding a whip in one hand and clenched fists in the other. We can also see a sort of orange-lava coloured skull in the background.
Connotation: The way its presented could mean that its an action adventure because the man has a gun and a whip and the type of clothes he's wearing but also the skull could mean its going to be scary because we don't usually ascociate skulls with something happy and good.
Props:
Costumes: Indiana Jones is shown to be wearing a khaki and wearing a western type hat whilst holding a whip, this could mean he's from the 90's because if he was modern he'd be wearing better clothes and wouldn't be using a whip. He also has his sleeves rolled up aswell as having his shirt buttons unbuttoned.
Lightening: The lightening for the skull is a very bright orange-lava colour, it has a sort of glowing effect on it, but going downwards the poster gets darker and darker which could mean that Indiana Jones is going somewhere bad, dangerous, dark.
Non-Verbal Communication: The way he's standing shows that hes confident, determined, his strong posture, not slouching. He's also staring into the camera, showing he's determination that he's serious, his fists are also clenched meaning that he's prepared for what may be ahead of him which could be danger.
Setting: Because of what he's wearing we are made to think that this film is set in the 90's
